Liposuction: When Is It Beneficial and When Is It Risky

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess body fat.  With the advent of modern technology, liposuction has become safer for its patients.  One way or another, people with excess fats may have thought about liposuction to get rid of fats easily.  However, liposuction still has risks, even with the safest technology.  Although in recent years, mortality rate and complications due to liposuction has dropped significantly.  The reason for this is because lesser fats are being removed and new technologies have improved the procedure in many ways.  Complications after a liposuction procedure is still possible if proper care and proper supervision is ignored.  Besides, professional doctors might disqualify you from having a liposuction if you are not healthy enough to undergo the procedure.  But just in case they don’t, do try to take into consideration the health risks you might be subjecting yourself into.

When Is It Beneficial

It is most beneficial to people who have been moderately active and are generally in good health condition.  The skin must also be elastic enough so that when excess fat is removed, the skin will be able to bounce back to its natural form.  Aside from this, you must be willing to continue to have a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen after you have recovered from the surgery.

When Is It Risky

It is most risky to people with health problems.  It is also risky to people who are extremely obese and lead a sedentary lifestyle.  Anyone who is generally in bad health and has a weak immune system should forget about liposuction.  Skin that is starting to lose its elasticity is advised not to undergo the procedure.  When skin is not elastic enough, it will wrinkle and sag after the surgery.  You may have to undergo another surgery which is called abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, if it’s around the tummy.  In this procedure, the excess skin will be removed which will leave scar marks on the skin.  How obvious or fine a scar mark will be, depends on how good your surgeon is and how healthy your skin condition is.

Liposuction becomes too risky when too much fat is removed from the body.  It can be life threatening and can produce lumpiness in the skin.  In liposuction, too much fat removed is defined when more than 5 liters of fat in the body is suctioned.

Reminders

Liposuction is not a substitute to proper diet and exercise, nor is it a treatment for obesity.  Proper diet and exercise should be a daily habit of people who wants to undergo this procedure and even for people who have already undergone liposuction.  It does not remove cellulite, only fat deposits under the skin.  It will however help in reshaping body form.  Liposuction does not produce permanent beneficial results.  Its permanence will depend on the person’s discipline and how they would take care of their body.  Discipline with diet and physical activity should go hand in hand with liposuction.

Liposuction will only remove excess fat underneath the skin, which is the subcutaneous fat.  Having a liposuction will not eliminate visceral fats, the fats surrounding the vital organs.  To help remove visceral fats, one must exercise.

Toning and Slimming Products

If you are not ready for cosmetic surgery such as liposuction, you just might want to try a few products that promise to help tone your body. Applying them does require extra care and work on your part such as daily exercise and proper diet. With patience, you might have the body you want similar to the result that a good liposuction can give.

Lipo helps remove tenacious fat cells that may be distributed in very high concentrations in certain regions of the body. This helps give the body uniformity and remove ugly fat deposits, like those on the butt, thighs, or stomache, even in spite of regular exercise and diet. But no, lipo is not intended for general weight loss.

Thorough physical check up should be made first before a person should subject herself to liposuction.
